Always avoided this time of night

When dawn’s light comes and reminds me of the fact

I can no longer go home

No place to rest along this road

It’s no longer safe outside this place, these walls, I’m able to hide

A place that’s known of childhood fears, the day a week and long lost years

I turn away and push aside the last few things I’m able to hide

And prying eyes outside my door, I revert

To the way I was before

Flick the ash, and gather thought and understand this day’s awash

Feel the eyes that pry away

Forget ideals, it’s just better this way

Frequently, we fail to understand that this life there really is no plan

And we have to wonder why

What went wrong, why the days are so damn long
