Storms are breaking in California

From the East Coast a twister comes

She lies waiting for her lovers

A crumpled rag doll that’s cast away

Then they call her on the phone

Telling lies that she can see through

So they’ll live inside their hell tonight

Knowing they were saving their own skins

Signing up for high adventure

Young and innocent so alive

Mules and asses held the high ground

While the lions stood like sitting ducks

Then they drove them through the fire

With a cry of «we know better»

Sailing oceans to a new life

Friends and family are tied as one

Captain’s table rocks with laughter

Glasses raised to a job well done

And the market place is waiting

For the souls that can’t be bought

Knowing they were shaming mankind

Like a dead bird in a green field

Still and peaceful the body lay

I don’t need to witness something

To confirm all my deepest fears

But I climb inside my car

And I stop the help arriving
