If I was a paragon of someone who could stand alone

And still build something good

I would build a better stage

My spirit would quell the rage and fly out of the woods

But if there is a chance that hands can do something my memory can’t

I’ll keep whatever we can make

If I was an exemplar of someone who could make days start I’d start a better day

One where I’d escape the lies and put my anxious mind aside to dwell on where

we lay

If I overturn impasse and pull our bodies from the grass
