All Must Wither - Human Future

Nothing

Not anything

Beyond this is naught

Any wishes to linger indefinitely

Are mere emblems of our species' fearful ignorance

Benevolent though they may be

They prolong our species mental infancy

No pain

No longer

No senses

There will be no trace beyond the atoms that formed you

Merging with the whole irrespective of cognisance

From that which carried our weight upon it’s back

We shall eventually return

Your perception has eroded

Snuffed out with the final beat

All caution and passion negated

No chance of reprieve

What is left will fester away

Stripped of consciousness

The last breath punctuating

Maybe memories will persevere

In the superseding

Generations have failed to conquer

Others favour illusions of eternal life

None will ever venture

Into such metaphysical states

Spirituality is a farce

For all that divides

We converge in decline

United by decay

This dichotomy is inescapable
