I watched you walk up the escalator like you were a ghost

you left me stranded at the platform faded as an antique rose

you were figments of reality I’d almost see again

but you’d be different next time, candle burned out wickless and melted

sometimes it’s hard to ameliorate imaginary sin

when you’re still stuck inside the distance between nothing and everything

when will you walk into the room and run your fingers through the air

dancing like young Esther Williams, drowning in the deep water

I’ve seen the moon sigh for mercy I’ve seen solitude break down

like some old forgotten junkie I’ve been wandering this town

worse for the wear waiting to fly… somebody wake me ‘fore I forget how I got by

So many people blinded by horizon’s golden dust

I know so little I guess I am much more glitter than I’m rust

but I know what love is, I’m sailing off like Columbus

to see her face she is a ghost, I never knew I could earn this syllabus
