In the evenings I feel blind.

And I miss the west coast where every melody I composed seemed to come from a

far more desperate time.

All alone, thousands of miles from home.

And I need a Santa Ana breeze,

Cause coast line sunsets are calling me.

Toward those seductive shores where my best ideas were born

and for a moment I almost believed

I could escape this wretched life I’ve made.

Those rolling hills carry me inside their breath.

As I recall such warmth and tenderness

yeah sometimes I feel like I’ve never really left

Call me nostalgic or naive.

Memories not too distant to retrieve.

And I’ll pretend like I’m back there with LA girls in the thoroughfaire

and for an instant

I am free.
