Helpless and alone,

In the emptiness of bones.

A year has been and gone,

Beating a heart that can’t go on.

Eyes that stare through the haze,

To find a place to call her own.

Poison flows through the vein,

A deep regret begins to fade.

The day takes a hold,

An iron grip that breaks the mould.

Tears that stain an ageing face,

And pave the way;

a fall from grace.

Clutching at my throat.
