Summer used to be a carefree free time

Grown hair and growth spurts

Now it’s just a period to be uncomfortable

I sweat through my undershirt

Collecting heat waves as I stare up at the planes

I wish we could go away

And that’s a part of me I guess that hasn’t changed

I’m doing double shifts in May

And summer isn’t quite the same
