I’m in a bad way and I can’t seem to shake it

Remember the one with eyes like the sun?

It turns out I was wrong

I wish I could say it had gone my way

But instead I’ve just been waiting in vain

I keep playing the record forward and back

And it’s driving me mad

I was a fool to believe, too blind to see

I’m just a pawn in a game of catch and release

Every time he cut the line I thought I’d make it out alive

Till he reeled me in just to toss me back

And he did it with a smile

Oh, Rose, you know just what to say

It’s not like me to get this bent out of shape

But I was chasing a dream down a one way street

And now it’s out of sight

I guess some people don’t want the real thing

You wouldn’t recognize it if all you’ve seen

Is a photograph of a painting

On a pixelated screen

Victory is learning how to bow-out gracefully

And part of growing up is knowing when to walk away
