Bone Deep - Walkways

Always kept my secrets wrapped in pain

I’ve rarely felt the calm before the storm

It’s not thick skin it’s me

A disability

A phantom heart

A severed thought

Feelings that I used to have

Now they’re gone blurred inside of me

Something that I used to be

But it died deep inside of me

The shades of my grin hint the way in

The scars on my skin mark the way out

Crowned itself and got rid of me

The poetry in a pleasant dream for once

But all I see is red!

Cut or caressed

For once I need to be the shepherd

Not driven nor possessed

To guide myself

But though the cage around my heart

Stops the blood from my head

I still see red

Yes all I see is red!
